York League, Division One
Riccall United 1 Strensall Tigers 1 (att 25)
Just a few years ago Riccall United were York League champions but their fortunes have waned since then and they may yet suffer another relegation to the league's third tier.
A point against mid table Strensall, who had nothing to play for in the final league fixture of the season, was well earned and may prove vital. They'll be disappointed not to have taken all three, as a second half equaliser cancelled out their first half opener.
The quality of this division one game was a definite step down from last week's premier division match at Dringhouses but it was entertaining enough and a draw was a fair outcome.
I could have done without the constant moaning at the referee though, with the visitors particularly guilty. He didn't get everything right, but nor did the players, and they'd have been aggrieved if he'd barracked them every time they made a questionable decision.
What he did get right (as well as most decisions, whatever the players thought) was a red card for each team following an unnecessary and ugly incident in the final few minutes.
Riccall is a village between between York and Selby. The football club are based at the Regen Centre, a community centre with an enclosed football pitch. The playing area is railed off, and dugouts and former dugouts of varying shapes and sizes offer cover for a few spectators as well as subs and coaches.
