11.30am 11 May 2024 Weston-super-Mare and District League, Hospital Cup Final at Isle of Wedmore FC Weston Town 1 West Wick 0 (att 150) The Weston-super-Mare and District League has been below my groundhopping radar, with four divisions of county league football sitting above it, but a Saturday morning cup final was a good opportunity for my first experience. The final of the Hospital Cup, for top division teams, was the first part of a double-header, with a second cup final scheduled for the afternoon. Both were at the impressive sports facilities in the village of Wedmore. There's a large car park, a modern bar - The Post and Wicket - and facilities for bowls, tennis, cricket and, of course, football. The main football pitch is adjacent to the clubhouse, and railed off on three sides. Weston Town need to win their final two league fixtures to pip Wedmore to the league title.
