Dringhouses v Copmanthorpe

6.15pm  10 April 2019

York League, Premier Division
Dringhouses 7 Copmanthorpe 2 (att 45)

I usually enjoy visit to games in the York League, and this goal-laden encounter was an enjoyable way to spend a sunny if chilly early evening.

Dringhouses are chasing runners-up spot while Copmanthorpe aren't clear of relegation worries, so it was a surprise that the visitors took an early lead. It was less of a surprise that the home side equalised soon after, then almost immediately scored again to go in front.

That was it for first half goals, but after the break the gulf between the sides widened. Copmanthorpe weren't helped by losing their goalkeeper to injury, but they were no match for Dringhouses as they increased their lead to 7-1.

Copmanthorpe at least got the final goal of the evening, and were unlucky not to score one or two more. They contributed to an entertaining game.

Dringhouses is a suburb of York and the football club plays at the Dringhouses Sports and Social Club. From the social club the football pitch is on the far side of a cricket pitch, and is roped off along one side with a pair of dugouts.
