Glyndwr University v University of Cumbria (Lancaster)

2pm  11 March 2015

BUCS Northern 4A
Glyndwr University 0 University of Cumbria (Lancaster) 0 (att 3)

More Wednesday afternoon university football, and a game that kept me entertained despite the lack of goals.

The visitors, from Cumbria University's Lancastrian outpost, were the better side throughout, but they created few clear chances, and when the opportunities were there they failed to take them. At the final whistle Wrexham-based Glyndwr were celebrating what was their first league point of the season.

While they may not have the best team, Glyndwr do have a decent home venue. They play on a 3G pitch at Colliers Park in Gresford, used by Wrexham AFC as training ground and youth team venue, and which seems to now be owned by the university.

I've previously seen Wrexham's youngsters on a grass pitch at Colliers Park. The 3G is unusual for an all-weather facility, as it's not surrounded by a high mesh "cage". The floodlit pitch has a wooden fence on the car park side, where there's also a 50-seat stand, and has a pair of dugouts on the opposite side.
