Glasgow & District Saturday Morning League, Division Two
Cambuslang ROK 3 Glenavon Thistle 2 (att 6)
An early start for the first three games on a busy Saturday, at a fixture that I chose purely on the kick off time and location, which was close enough to allow me to get to match number two about a mile away at midday.
The Glasgow Saturday Morning League has three divisions, with division two the lowest tier, so this was never likely to be the highest quality football. It was entertaining though, and both sides did their best in cold and blustery conditions.
It was 1-1 by half time, and the sides traded goals in the second half with Cambuslang ROK coming from behind to win 3-2.
Unfortunately the game came to a premature end, after 85 minutes, following what looked a very serious injury to one of the home players. An ambulance was called and it seems, sensibly, that the result will stand.
Cambuslang ROK (named after Rab O'Kane, in whose memory the team was started) play at Burnhill Sports Centre. The football element of the sports centre is a couple of pitches on the playing field next to Rutherglen Glencairn's ground. There's some grass banking, and footpaths between the pitches, so it's not a bad venue for this level of football.

Just stumbled on this. I am the ROK player who had the injury. Double leg break nearly 3 years ago to the day.
