Risborough Rangers v The Sixty One FC (Luton)

12 noon  1 April 2013

Spartan South Midlands League, Division Two
Risborough Rangers 2 The Sixty One FC (Luton) 2 (att 62)

An entertaining start to a busy day of groundhopping, and good to finally visit a ground I've been meaning to get to for years but somehow never got round to before.

In a league, well, this division at least, where the standard of facilities can be rather basic, Risborough's ground, "Windsors", is a gem, with only the lack of floodlights preventing it staging higher level football.

The pitch is fully enclosed, with a large covered standing and seating area built in front of the clubhouse, which also incorporates a tea bar. There's also a tiny stand on the opposite side, although I'm not sure whether that's designed for spectators or purely for the club official stationed on that side to retrieve any stray footballs.

Compared to last visit to a ground in this league, Hale Leys United's roped off pitch in a large council-run park in Aylesbury, this was like Wembley.

The game wasn't bad either, although having seen two games since the details already feel a bit hazy. Both teams scored a goal in each half, but the visitors, who looked the better of the two sides, would probably have won had they not lost a player to a stupid red card, for kicking out at an opponent.
