Burton Joyce v Ruddington Village

6.15pm  11 April 2013

Nottinghamshire Senior League, Premier Division
Burton Joyce 3 Ruddington Village 5 (att 14)

Between them these two sides managed to cram a lot of entertaining football into what was, due to poor light, an 80-minute match.

The home side never recovered from conceding twice in the opening four minutes, the first before any of their players had even touched the ball. They pulled a goal back before half time, but Ruddington scored again in the opening moments of the second half.

The sides traded goals during a very entertaining and competitive second half, with plenty more chances at both ends.

Burton Joyce's ground, The Poplars, is on the outskirts of the village, which itself is a few miles outside Nottingham. There's an impressive clubhouse, but it's a long way from the pitch, which is roped off through permanent wooden posts. The rest of the sports ground includes other football pitches and a cricket pitch.
