6.15pm 1 April 2013
Bedfordshire County League, Premier Division
Bedford Hatters 2 Caldecote 3 (att 28)
Not sure why the Bedfordshire County League chose to have evening kick offs on a bank holiday Monday, especially as the late start meant a match reduced to two 40-minute halves to finish before it was too dark.
However, it gave me the dubious pleasure of a third match of a very cold day. The venue, the Meltis Sports Ground in Miller Road, Bedford, isn't the most exciting, just a roped off pitch, but the game was good.
Caldecote, top of the league, took an early lead, but thoughts that they run out easy winners were soon dispelled by a Hatters equaliser. The score was level at half time, the sides traded second half goals before Caldecote managed a late winner.
