2.30pm 17 August 2013
West Yorkshire League, Division One
Old Centralians 1 Knaresborough Town reserves 3 (att 15)
I admit I had low expectations ahead of this game, as neither the venue nor the fixture promised much, but choices for a new ground after the morning's match at Huddersfield were limited.
I didn't help as heavy rain added to the strong and blustery wind blowing across the exposed pitch, at West Park on the outskirts of Leeds, as the game kicked off.
Thankfully the rain didn't last long, and while it remained a windy afternoon both teams coped well with the conditions and provided a much better than expected 90 minutes.
Knaresborough's second team, newly promoted to the West Yorkshire League's second tier, thoroughly deserved their win after coming from behind. They might have scored more goals, but their keeper also pulled off some good saves to stop Old Centralians.
The sides were level at half time, a goal each, but Knaresborough began the second period with an early goal and never looked back.
The ground is basic, just a railed off pitch in a large playing field with changing rooms and a car park nearby.
