Myles N Kenyon Cup, Group A
Walshaw Sports Club 4 Elton Vale 1 (att 65)
Played at King George PF, Elton, Bury
A surprisingly large crowd included plenty of other groundhoppers, from the North West and even further afield.
What we saw was an entertaining, competitive and at times very skilful game between two decent sides, espcially in the first half during which the home side established a 3-1 lead. The second period was quieter, but a fourth home goal sealed a resounding win to keep the battle for the group's two quarter final spots going into next week's final games.
Walshaw's usual home venue is primarily a cricket ground, so this was played on a public park not far from the centre of Bury. Not a bad venue for a park pitch, and the nice weather and surrounding houses may have helped swell the crowd.
