Prestwich v Radcliffe Town res

23 July 2011

Myles N Kenyon Cup, Group B
Prestwich 4 Radcliffe Town res 1 (att 19)
An easy home win, not unexpected given the opposition. Prestwich played some neat football throughout, converting just two of the many chances they created in the first half.
Radcliffe were better organised after the break, although still very much second best, and pulled a goal back thanks to a centre forward who didn't see much of the ball, but who impressed whenever he did.
Prestwich had three goals ruled out for offside, all correctly I thought, before two late goals gave them a more convincing, and appropriate, winning margin.
The Heys Road pitch was roped off along both touchlines, but other than an impressive adjacent cricket ground there's no other facilities, and no sign at all of the old Prestwich Heys FC ground which once stood on the site.
Biggest surprise came after the game once I was back home ... a post on the excellent Tony Kempster forum revealed Prestwich had issued a programme for the game. After a quick phone call the helpful club secretary sent me a copy in the post.
