6 July 2011
Strathspey & Badenoch Welfare League
Kingussie 4 RBL Aviemore 1 (att 20)
Started my 2011/12 season in pouring rain, which the pitch thankfully survived unlike at nearby Carrbridge.
Kingussie is better known for shinty, but the football club were on course to win the six-team summer league, which they subsequently did, and played some attractive attacking football.
They didn't have it all their own way in this game though, and after leading 1-0 at the interval they allowed RBL to equalise, before late goals wrapped up a convincing win.
The game may have started in heavy rain, but the sun eventually shone through, and we were treated to a spectacular rainbow.
