North East Wales League, Championship
AFC Bagillt 6 FC United of Wrexham 1 (att 40)
For the first 45 minutes this was an even game between a pair of well-matched sides, before until the home team ran away with it after the break.
Both Bagillt and FC United had picked up a just a point each from their opening fixtures, so a close encounter wasn't a surprise. Bagillt looked the stronger, but the visitors took a first half lead from a penalty.
Their advantage didn't last long, but it was still only 1-1 by half time. Once the second half got underway Bagillt stepped up a gear and FC United of Wrexham were unable to respond.
The home side scored five unanswered second half goals, getting their first win of the season in style. They could easily have added more to their tally.
AFC Bagillt are a recent addition to senior football, although I'm sure previous clubs have been based in the Flintshire village. Their home is a pitch at Ysgol Merllyn (Merllyn School).
It's a basic ground. Both touchlines are taped off and there's a steep grass bank behind the goal nearest the entrance, providing good views of the action and of the nearby Dee Estuary.
