Week St Mary v Lifton

2pm  3 April 2022

Launceston and District Cup, Quarter Final
Week St Mary 2 Lifton 8 (att 51)

These two sides are both in the Duchy League but there was a gulf between them as division one Lifton easily beat division two Week St Mary to claim a place in the last four of the Launceston Cup.

The visitors were 2-0 up and already looking comfortable before the home side pulled a goal back. Lifton added a third before half time, then two goals early in the second half ended any realistic hopes of Week St Mary fightback.

More goals followed. The home crowd had something to cheer when their team netted a second, but the game was well out of their reach by then.

Week St Mary is a small village in north Cornwall. The second division of the Duchy League is the lowest level of Saturday football in the area, but despite that the ground is a good one.

The pitch is fully enclosed, and the best vantage point is from a raised bank that runs the length of one side. There's a pair of dugouts and even some advertising boards.

  1. Hi Steve B, we were there also reporting on the ground for our blog(Small Ground Boy), Im pleased you counted the crowd, I estimated it but 51 was more than I thought. It was a good turnout. Next Week we are off to Pensilva in the Duchy league
