Sheffield Town v High Green Villa

7.30pm  4 April 2022

Sheffield County Senior League, Premier Division
Sheffield Town 1 High Green Villa 4 (att 42)

A surprisingly easy win for High Green Villa, who went into this game bottom of the table with just a single victory from 20 league matches.

Perhaps the home side were hampered by Ramadan. The game was briefly paused after a few minutes to allow Sheffield Town's mainly Muslim players to break their daily fast.

High Green went ahead not long after the players took on sustenance, and a second goal put them in control before the break. Sheffield Town were unfortunate to be behind though, having created plenty of chances and twice hitting the crossbar.

The home side pulled a goal back nine minutes into the second half, but it proved a false dawn as they were unable to get level. An excellent 80th minute free kick put High Green 3-1 up, and they rounded off a great result with a fourth goal a minute from time.

Sheffield Town play home games on an artificial pitch at the Fir Vale Vale Sports Centre. It's fairly typical of such venues, but a plus point is that there's plenty of room for spectators to stand inside the fence around the pitch.
