Featherstone Colliery v Altofts

6.15pm  13 April 2015

West Yorkshire League, Division One
Featherstone Colliery 2 Altofts 0 (att 57)

Featherstone is rugby league country, so I was a little surprised at the number of spectators this West Yorkshire League game attracted. Then again, it was a local derby, and at least half those watching were supporting the visitors.

They didn't have much to cheer though, Featherstone were on top from the off, but an inability to shoot on target meant they took about an hour before taking the lead.

Once they finally scored there was only going to be one winner, and a second goal confirmed the outcome. Altofts put in plenty of effort, but were very much second best.

Featherstone's ground, Cressy's Corner, was better than I'd expected. As well as football is also hosts rugby (league presumably), cricket and bowls. The football pitch is fully railed-off, although there's no cover for spectators.

Looking at Google Maps, it appears the the football and rugby pitches have swapped places since the aerial view was taken.
