Acton v Cefn Albion

6.30pm  16 April 2015

North East Wales League
Acton 0 Cefn Albion 5 (att 30)

Keeping track of football grounds at this level can be a challenge, and it was only recently that I learned that Acton had moved since my August 2013 visit.

They've not moved very far, instead of a pitch on the local recreation ground they're now using a pitch on the playing field at Rhosnesni High School in Wrexham. Players get changed in the school, then walk to a pitch that was roped along both touchlines.

This was an important win for Cefn, as it took then to the top of the league. They're likely to stay there, having failed to win just one of their 17 league games so far.

They were much the better side against Acton, yet somehow it took until a 52nd minute penalty before they went ahead. The spot kick was awarded for handball, and also saw the home side reduced to 10 men thanks to a red card.

Soon after, a second penalty was missed, but the ball still ended up in the Acton net before their defenders were able to clear the danger. Three more goals followed as Cefn's superiority was finally converted into goals.
