The Hellenic League groundhop spans this year's Easter weekend and I took the opportunity of this late Saturday afternoon kick off to get a step closer to completing the league.
Woodcote are among a handful of clubs who run first teams in the league's four reserve-dominated third tier divisions. Division Two East is actually a bit of an outlier, consisting mainly of first elevens.
The home side are going well in the league, and had little difficulty beating FC Beaconsfield. They had a goal disallowed for offside before an own goal set them on their way. By half time it was 3-0.
A solitary second half strike completed the scoring, making it a satisfactory afternoon for Woodcote and the many groundhoppers who boosted the crowd.
Woodcote are based at the village recreation ground, which caters for cricket as well as football. The football pitch is roped off but, while it's a pleasant venue and adequate for this level, it's unlikely to ever be suitable for the Hellenic League first division.
