It's a close finish to the Liverpool Old Boys Amateur League. Leaders Abbey Road secured an important win, and their evening got even better with news that title rivals Valley Old Boys were held to a draw.
Valley are now 12 points behind with three games in hand. The two are due to meet in what is likely to be a decider on the final day of the season.
St Margaret's Old Boys made Abbey Road work hard for their win. The home side's greater quality showed with two good finishes to put them in control, but a penalty in the last minute of the opening half kept the outcome in the balance.
The visitors threatened to level in the second period, but Abbey Road always had the edge. Eventually, late in the game, they also had a third goal to put the result beyond doubt.
Abbey Road play at Parkview Road Playing Fields, close to the East Lancashire Road. It's enclosed ground with a single pitch, and space for cars to park on the grass, but no changing rooms.
