Dundee St James v Dundee Violet

2.30pm 7 May 2022

SJFA East Region, Midlands League
Dundee St James 0 Dundee Violet 0 (att 68)

Dundee St James were newcomers to junior football this season, and have acquitted themselves well in a league that now sits a level below the Highland League in Scotland's football pyramid.

They completed their season by holding local rivals Dundee Violet to a draw. The outcome was fair on the balance of play and, despite both sides coming close to scoring, a goalless draw looked likely long before the end.

St James almost got a winner in the 90th minute, but a shot from distance came back off the crossbar. Violet had hit the frame of the goal earlier in the half, and in the first period it took a great save to tip over a St James effort.

Dundee St James may be new to junior football, but their home ground isn't. Fairfield Park was used by Dundee St Joseph's until they folded in 1999. The pitch is surrounded by a post and rail fence, and there's a dugout on either side. Changing rooms and a snack bar are in a building behind the goal near the entrance.
