Eastwood Hanley v Stone Dominoes

2.30pm  17 August 2019

Staffordshire County Senior League, Premier Division
Eastwood Hanley 3 Stone Dominoes 0 (att 24)

It's 27 years since I watched Eastwood (Hanley) at their Trentmill Road ground, and not long later they vacated the site and within a few years had folded.

But in recent years an attempt has been named to revive the club (albeit without the parenthesis) and the new incarnation has risen to 'step seven', the top tier of the Staffordshire County Senior League.

The club hope to return to Trentmill Road, once it's again capable of staging senior football, but for now are playing on a 3G pitch at Northwood Stadium. The ground is typical of its type, bit isn't too bad and has a spectator area running the length of one side.

Enthusiasm extends to a professional-looking and informative programme, given away free with the £3 admission, and it'd be good to see the fledgling club continue to flourish.

They ran out comfortable winners against Stone Dominoes, thanks to a trio of goals in the game's final quarter. Until the home side's opener it had been an even match, but Stone were never in it once they fell behind.
