2pm 5 September 2015
North Lancashire & District League, Division One
Westgate Wanderers 0 Boys Club of Lancaster 3 (att 20)
I wanted to be home early so a 2pm kick off in the North Lancashire League suited me well, and having enjoyed watching Westgate away at TIC Dynamos on Thursday night I thought I'd see if they could continue their 100 per cent start to the season.
The answer was an emphatic no, as Boys Club pulled off a bit of a shock result. They went ahead after 13 minutes, defended their lead well, then doubled it 13 minutes into the second period.
Westgate upped their game once they were two goals down, and had they got one goal back I think they'd have gone on to win, but Boys Club held firm, then added salt into the home side's wounds with late third on the break.
Westgate Wanderers are Morecambe-based, and play on a large playing field with plenty of parking. The main pitch is in front of an austere-looking concrete building that houses changing rooms and a welcome snack bar.
