Leeds United U21 v Bristol City U21

1pm  14 September 2015

Under 21 Professional Development League 2
Leeds United U21 3 Bristol City U21 0 (att 110)

I'd seen a Leeds under 19 side play at the Thorp Arch training ground in 2003, but since then an enclosed pitch has been built close to the entrance, and it's used by the club's under 21 side when they play matches here.

Spectators are restricted to just one side, divided into two sections either side of the dugouts. New homes are being built beyond the far side, but I couldn't understand why spectators were unable to use that side, for a better and less crowded view.

Like too many games at this level, there was lots of neat football but little excitement. The Bristol City keeper was busier than his counterpart during a goalless first half, tipping a couple of good efforts over the bar.

The second half was better than the first, although it was surprise that Leeds managed not just one but three goals, in the space of only a few minutes, about 20 minutes from the end. As always, I wondered what the benefit is to players of performing in front of a few dozen people on a weekday lunchtime.
