Newport County U18 v Yeovil Town U18

11am  12 September 2015

Football League Youth Alliance, South West Conference
Newport County U18 1 Yeovil Town U18 0 (att 52)

Another step in the quest to see a game at every professional academy venue, although chatting to a Yeovil follower I discovered they don't play where I thought they did, so a case of one step forward and one step back.

Newport play at Llanwern High School, which has recently been rebuilt and includes impressive sports facilities. The pitch used for this game, fully enclosed with a railed-off pitch, hard standing on one side and dugouts, is sandwiched other between similarly-equipped pitches, one for rugby and one, that's also floodlit, for football.

In truth it wasn't the most memorable of matches. The only goal was a well-taken effort about mid way through the first half. Moments later only a fine save by the Yeovil keeper prevented Newport getting a second, but other than that clear chances were few and far between.

The teams were evenly-matched though, and Yeovil could feel a little hard done by not to come away from south Wales with a point.
