Doncaster Saturday League, Division One
Doncaster Eagles 1 Tickhill 10 (att 28)
Plans A and B had already bitten the dust by the time I settled on this match. Walkovers and venue changes are always a risk late in the season, and will doubtless be even more common as we move into June.
No such problems at Armthorpe Sports Pavilion, and credit in particular to Doncaster Eagles. They had nothing to play for, and were always likely to be well beaten, but still fielded a side on a bank holiday evening.
They started well, and came close to scoring twice in the first two minutes, but it wasn't long before Tickhill took control. The goals flowed regularly and the visitors scored six before half time.
Eagles got the first goal of the second half, a great strike from a free kick, but more Tickhill goals were inevitable, and they made it into double figures.
There a two football pitches at the ground, and both have a pair of dugouts. The game was played on the pitch closest to the entrance, while on the second pitch some youngsters were being put through their paces.
