Yorkshire Amateur League, Supreme Division
Alwoodley 0 Route One Rovers 2 (att 20)
Yet another trip to Yorkshire, where leagues are continuing and, unlike in some parts of the country, most fixtures are still taking place rather than being awarded as walkovers.
Alwoodley and Route One Rovers have little left to play for beyond jockeying for final league placings, but still produced and enjoyable and competitive match.
For a while though I thought it might end goalless. Both sides created half-chances rather than clear opportunities, before the deadlock was finally broken about 12 minutes from the end.
Bradford-based Route One Rovers had looked most likely to score, and having got one goal it didn't take them long to double their advantage. In truth it wasn't a game that will linger long in the memory, but it was a decent enough evening.
Alwoodley is a north Leeds suburb. The football club has a pitch adjacent to the community centre. The near side is railed off and had a pair of dugouts, while the pitchside barrier on the far side is actually the boundary of Moortown Rugby Club, whose ground is right next door.
