Sharnbrook v Pavenham

10.30am  10 October 2015

Bedfordshire County League, Premier Division
Sharnbrook 4 Pavenham 4 (att 125)

Watching three games in a day can become tiresome if the football fails to sparkle, but luckily Sharnbrook and Pavenham put on a great show to get this year's Bedfordshire County League "hop" under way.

The visitors scored early, and before long doubled their lead, but Sharnbrook pulled a goal back before the end of an entertaining first half.

Spectators were still queueing for their half-time cuppas when the second half started with more goals, a third for Pavenham was immediately followed by a second for the hosts.

More goals follows, with Sharnbrook finally getting level terms at 4-4. That was the end of the scoring, although Sharnbrook finished the match on top.

Sharnbrook's ground is a typical village county league set-up. The pitch was roped off, and forms part of the village playing fields, with changing rooms and social club housed in the village hall.

As is (almost) always the case for hop matches, the organisation was excellent, and the club coped well with the larger than usual crowd.
