East Leake Robins v FC Geordie

1pm 31 December 2022

Nottinghamshire Senior League, Division One
East Leake Robins 6 FC Geordie 1 (att 93)

Despite New Year's Eve falling on a Saturday there was a limited choice of games. The Nottinghamshire Senior League was one of the few competitions to have fixtures, but several were postponed.

No such problems at East Leake, who were in effect providing a preview of the ground they intend to make their permanent home from next season.

Their regular ground currently is a 3G pitch at the village leisure centre, but a new pavilion was recently opened at playing fields on Costock Road, and this game was moved there.

It's a good facility. The pavilion is behind the goal of the main football pitch, which has a pair of dugouts on one side. There's a second pitch, also with dugouts, in an adjacent field beyond the far goal.

This wasn't a game to arrive at late. East Leake went ahead in the opening minute or so, soon conceded a leveller, but were back front inside the first 10 minutes. They should have been further ahead by half time but were wasteful in front of goal.

The home side continued to dominate after the break. Despite more wayward finishing they managed to add enough goals to reflect the balance of play. Credit to both sides for playing on a day when many didn't.
