Saturday Morning Amateur League, Development Division
Blackhall 4 Cumbernauld Amateurs 5 (att 10)
A prompt finish to my 9am game allowed more than enough time to drive the few miles to the Ralston Community Sports Centre in Paisley, where Blackhall were hosting a match in the Saturday Morning League's lowest division.
The difference in standard between this and the premier division was noticeable, but there were some high quality goals and the entertainment value was definitely on a par.
It was 2-2 by half time, and 3-3 going into the last 20 minutes when Cumbernauld had a player sent off. But rather than trying to hold out for a point with 10 men, the visitors were devastating on the break and scored twice.
Blackhall reduced the arrears and set up an exciting climax, but despite opportunities they were unable to rescue a point.
The pitch at Ralston is a typical 3G set up, and was another venue staging multiple games. As this match ended Hillington and Dunoon were preparing for a 1pm kick off in the Scottish Amateur League.
