Army FA, Massey Trophy, Division One
Royal Logistic Corps 2 Royal Corps of Signals 5 (att 5)
This was my second attempt to see the Royal Logistic Corps at Tilsley Park in Abingdon. Last time I arrived to find the game was off at their opponents couldn't raise a side. Luckily there were no such problems this time.
Not only had the Royal Corps of Signals got a team, but they scored twice in the opening 10 minutes. The RLC soon got a goal back, but their visitors always had the edge.
There were no further goals before half time, but the away side will have been disappointed not to extend their lead. It didn't take long into the second period before they did so.
A lead of 3-1 soon became 4-1, before a penalty briefly reduced the home side's deficit. The Signals weren't finished though, wrapping up a comfortable win with a fifth goal.
Some Army FA games, such as the last one I watched in 2020, are at secure venues generally out of bounds to casual spectators, but the Royal Logistic Corps play at an accessible venue.
Tilsley Park has an artificial pitch surrounded by a running track and with a seated stand running the length of one side. Pitch markings are predominantly for American Football, as the ground is home to gridiron team Oxford Saints.
