Lincolnshire League
Immingham Town 4 Lincoln Moorlands Railway 1 (att 40)
Lincoln Moorlands Railway's fading title hopes were as good as extinguished by a comprehensive defeat at Immingham.
I took just four minutes for the home side to go in front, and they exploited a frail defence to extend their lead to 3-0 by half time. Moorlands played some neat football, but looked vulnerable every time they were put under pressure.
The second half was quieter at both ends. The game looked likely to end at 3-0, but the home side got a fourth with a 72nd minute penalty, then conceded a first with another penalty.
Immingham Town have moved since I saw them in 2017 and are now based at the town's Blossom Way Sports and Social Club.
The social club was busy with people watching the FA Cup semi-final on TV, while outside a large playing field includes a cricket square and two football pitches. The main pitch is partly railed off and partly roped. There's dugouts and advertising boards, but no hard standing or spectator accommodation.
The ground is more than adequate for the Lincolnshire League, and may be another temporary venue as I understand they have plans to move to the club's traditional home at Woodlands, used by an earlier incarnation of Immingham Town that folded in the 1990s.
