East of Scotland League, Division One, Conference A
Rosyth 1 Haddington Athletic 4 (att 54)
My second game of the day was another of the many clubs who have swapped junior football for a place among the seniors in the East of Scotland League.
Rosyth, or Rosyth Recreation as they were known when I visited them in 2005, used to have a decent ground called Recreation Park. They moved out in 2018, to make way for a supermarket that is yet to be built.
The stalling of that development has left the club in limbo, as part of the deal was for the developers to fund a new home for Rosyth FC. For now they're stuck with a temporary, and barely suitable, 3G pitch at the Fleet Grounds.
Such venues aren't unusual of course, even in senior Scottish football. But having to hire a pitch, and little opportunity to raise extra revenue even on match days, is far from ideal.
The pitch has a spectator area running the entire length of one side, although with half-a-dozen spare small-sided goals up against the barrier it's a frustrating place to watch a game. Surely they could have been moved out of the way to the far side or to either end.
Haddington had a fair few supporters, and they'll have enjoyed what they saw. Their team is going well in the league, and two early goals set them up for a comfortable win.
Rosyth pulled one pack, but it was a brief respite before a brilliant free kick restored the visitors' two goal lead by half time. The second half was quieter, with Haddington adding just one more goal.
