East of Scotland League, Division One, Conference A
Dalkeith Thistle 8 Tweedmouth Rangers 2 (att 309)
Covid put paid to the organised Scottish groundhop last season, so I was pleased when Dalkeith retained the Saturday morning slot when it was eventually rescheduled.
Their King's Park ground was the only one of the selected venues I'd not been to, so it was worth an early start to reach the Midlothian town in time for kick off.
To describe the match as a game of two halves would be something of understatement. Tweedmouth led 2-1 at half time, but the decisive moment wasn't the break, but a red card for the visitors early in the second period.
Down to 10 men Tweedmouth collapsed, as Dalkeith scored at will to complete an unexpected rout.
Dalkeith Thistle are one of the many clubs who switched from junior football to the East of Scotland League. King's Park is a town centre ground with some of the traditional trappings of junior football, including uneven open terracing.
There's a covered area for spectators on one side, a pavilion housing changing rooms and a snack bar opposite, and floodlights.
