League of Ireland, Division One
Mervue United 0 Limerick 1 (att 355)
First match of a footballing weekend in Ireland, and a trip to Galway for one of my two remaining League of Ireland grounds (the other being UCD).
This is Mervue's first League season at their own Fahy's Field ground, having previously shared with Galway United, and it rivals other newcomers Wexford and Salthill as the most basic venue in the league. It's enclosed and floodlit, but apart from a path around the pitch there's no spectator accommodation.
The game wasn't bad. Limerick deserved the win but had to wait until the 84th minute of a typically-tight League of Ireland game before their increasing pressure paid off.
