2.30pm 8 October 2011
Kent Senior Trophy, First Round
Bearsted 0 Beckenham Town 4 (att 52)
I thought this might have been a closer game, but Beckenham, who effectively play a division higher than Bearsted, played well and ran out comfortable winners.
They even had the luxury of missing a penalty at the end of the first half, by which time they were already 2-0 ahead thanks to two very well taken goals. Bearsted had their moments, but never really threatened once the visitors were ahead.
Bearsted's ground is in Otham, a surprisingly bucolic setting on the edge of Maidstone. A small prefab seated stand is, I think, a new addition as the club are among the founder members of the new Kent Invicta League this season.
