Leinster Senior League, Senior Division 1A
Dunboyne 5 St Francis 3 (att 45)
The last time I saw St Francis they were drawing at home to Athlone Town in their short-lived League of Ireland spell. They're now in the Leinster Senior League's third tier, and played their part in a very entertaining match.
They went 2-0 ahead early on, and it looked to be just a matter of how many goals they'd score. But Dunboyne finished the half strongly, pulling a goal back, then took complete control in the second half scoring four more. St Francis managed a third goal themselves in stoppage time.
Dunboyne's simple but pleasant ground, apparently officially opened by Pele, is on the very edge of the small County Meath town. The main pitch is enclosed by a wooden fence. The club appear to have a thriving youth set up, with youngsters' matches being played on two other pitches during the main game.
