Nailsea and Tickenham v Portishead Town

3pm 7 April 2023

Western League, Division One
Nailsea and Tickenham 2 Portishead Town 0 (att 106)

This is Nailsea and Tickenham's first season in the Western League and this local derby win means they remain on course for immediate promotion to the premier division.

Their victory over Portishead was fairly straightforward, and achieved thanks to a goal in each half. It was a deserved three points, and the home side also hit the crossbar twice.

I endured predictably slow Good Friday traffic to get to Somerset, although an early start meant I was at the Fryth Way ground well ahead of kick off.

In common with other clubs newly-elevated to step six of the football pyramid, the ground is a work in progress. Portable buildings line one side of the pitch, providing all the necessary facilities, and there's seats and a covered standing area.

On the undeveloped opposite side of the ground is the frame of a stand and more seats, presumably to be added soon to provide more spectator comforts.
