Grange Moor Saints 2 Meltham Athletic 3 (att 45)
The Groom Cup is for teams in the Huddersfield League's third division. Meltham booked a place in the final after coming back from trailing 2-0 at Grange Moor.
It may have been a sunny evening but there was a very cold wind. Grange Moor had it at their backs for the first half, with their opponents facing the added challenge of playing towards the setting sun.
Having the conditions in their favour probably aided Grange Moor, who scored both their goals before half time. Meltham pulled a goal back before the break, and that set them up for a second half recovery.
There were chances are both ends though, and the visitors' winner came very late, with extra time - or more likely penalties - looking likely.
I've driven past Grange Moor's ground plenty of times so it was nice to finally visit for a game. It's a basic venue, as you'd expect in this league, but the single pitch is enclosed, portable buildings provide changing rooms, and there's plenty of parking.
