Middleton Park v Great Preston

2.30pm  9 April 2016

West Yorkshire League, Division Two
Middleton Park 1 Great Preston 2 (att 7)

I didn't have time to travel far, so once Middleton Park confirmed, via Twitter, that this game was on I headed to their leisure centre ground in suburban Leeds.

Middleton Park aren't having the best of seasons, but they looked to have got a fortunate point when an 84th minute goal cancelled out Great Preston's first half opener. Their joy was short-lived though, as Great Preston got the winner just two minutes later.

The visitors were the better side, and it took a good performance by Middleton Park's goalkeeper to keep his side in the game for so long. In truth it wasn't the greatest of games, but there was plenty of effort and endeavour and it kept me entertained.

Middeton Park are relatively new to West Yorkshire League football. Home games are at Middleton Leisure Centre, where they use one of three fenced-off grass pitches in a field behind Leeds Corinthians rugby club.
