Blackburn United v Rosegrove Railway

6.30pm  19 April 2016

East Lancashire League, Division Two
Blackburn United 4 Rosegrove Railway 1 (att 17)

Blackburn United have had a decent debut season in the East Lancashire League, and this impressive win was enough for them to leapfrog several clubs, including the visitors, into second place.

Whether they stay there remains to be seen, as they've played more games than their promotion rivals, but they were good value for this victory against a Rosegrove side who were disappointing.

The home side were gifted an early opening goal following a mix up in the visitors' defence, and added a well-taken second before half time. Rosegrove pulled a goal back early in the second half, but it was just a temporary set back for Blackburn as they scored twice more for a comprehensive win.

Blackburn United are based at St Mary's College, north of the town centre on Shear Brow. The playing field is behind the college buildings, and has three grass pitches. No facilities for spectators, but there's decent views of the distant hills beyond.
