AFC Middleton v Worsley Town

10.25am  31 January 2015

Manchester Saturday Morning League, MEN Cup Second Round
AFC Middleton 3 Worsley Town 2 (att 5)

This cup tie kicked off 25 minutes late, but the time was well spent by the home side who had to clear snow from the 3G pitch before we could get under way.

AFC Middleton's efforts, both before the start and during the 90 minutes, were well rewarded, with a victory against visitors who from their league record would have been regarded as favourites.

It took a last-minute winner for the home side to win, although it was one they just about deserved at the end of an entertaining match.

They scored the game's opening goal, but were pegged back when Worsley seized on a slack back pass. Middleton edged back in front just before half time, but a second half penalty allowed Worsley to level again, before the home side's late winner.

AFC Middleton play at the Manchester Creative and Media Academy in Blackley. There's a grass pitch as well as the 3G that this game was played on, and I've now seen football on both.
