Burscough Richmond v Stoneclough

6.46pm  14 August 2012

West Lancashire League, Division One
Burscough Richmond 0 Stoneclough 2 (att 28)

Lively game between two good sides who played some nice football on a sunny evening in Lancashire.

I had the visitors as underdogs for this, and Burscough Richmond created enough chances, particularly in the first half, to win it.

However, Stoneclough made them pay for being wasteful in front of goal. They took the lead with a good goal in the first half's final minute, then added a second after 77 minutes, when the home side's defenders and keeper all left a free kick which crept in at the far post.

Burscough Richmond have done well to turn what is essentially a public park into a very presentable football ground. The pitch is fully railed off, with dugouts on one side, and with just one pitch it has an enclosed feel. No cover for spectators, but on a warm evening that's no hardship.
