Wearside League
West Auckland Tunns 1 Richmond Town 4 (att 35)
In the 1920s the County Durham village of Cockfield was home to one of the top amateur sides in England. Sadly the team is no more, but what's left of their former ground is again staging senior football this season, in the Wearside League.
Cockfield is just a few miles from West Auckland, so in the absence of a suitable venue in their home town West Auckland Tunns have set up home at what is now called the Pauline Charlton Sports Pavilion.
The pavilion itself is a recent addition to the ground, and there's little left now of how it would have looked in Cockfield FC's prime. The pitch is fully railed off though, and behind one goal some walls remain that would once have been part of a stand.
On the pitch it's been a tough Wearside League debut for West Auckland Tunns. They lost 6-0 at home in their opening game, and were well beaten in their second fixture by Richmond Town.
It could have been worse though. The visitors were quickly 2-0 ahead, and while Tunns pulled one back they'd conceded a third by half time. The second half was a bit of a non event with the outcome already settled, but Richmond added a fourth goal in stoppage time.
