Pitstone and Ivinghoe v Bovingdon

3pm  18 August 2018

Spartan South Midlands League, Division Two
Pitstone and Ivinghoe 1 Bovingdon 1 (att 40)

It's nearly 30 years since I last watched a Pitstone and Ivinghoe home game, and my return to the Buckinghamshire club was prompted by a move to a new ground.

The new Pitstone Pavilion venue is still quite basic, although more than adequate for the league they are in, but unlike their old ground it does offer scope to be developed as and when the club progresses.

It's early days this season of course but both Pitstone and visitors Bovingdon went into this fixture with 100 per cent records. Those records went but they're still unbeaten after a draw that was a fair reflection on the game.

Both goals were in the second half. The home side had been disappointing in the opening period but came back out looking better and went ahead with a well taken goal. Bovingdon's equaliser was a penalty. Overall it was a well-contested if slightly disjointed game.

The main feature of the ground is the pavilion building behind the goal near the entrance. The pitch is roped off, with a pair of dugouts on one side and a large open space, with room for a second pitch, on the opposite side.
