Leeds City College v Liverpool University III

2pm  4 March 2015

BUCS Northern Conference Plate, Semi Final
Leeds City College 3 Liverpool University III 1 (att 18)

I came to Leeds City College's Horsforth campus last week, expecting to see a BUCS league game against Teesside University. That game was off, but I was told about this week's cup semi final, which tempted me to return.

These two sides are in the lower echelons of British Universities and Colleges Sports football, but played some good quality football in an entertaining cup tie.

Leeds looked the better side, and took a deserved lead midway through the first half. Liverpool battled back, and equalised just before half time.

A penalty early in the second half put Leeds back in front, and from then on both sides had chances before Leeds scored a third proved conclusive. The game ended a minute or so prematurely after a nasty-looking injury to a Liverpool player, hopefully he'll be okay.

There's just one football pitch at the Horsforth campus, hemmed in between the ring road and a cemetery. It feels quite enclosed, and there's even a single dugout on one side, used by the home side.
