SJFA North Region, Division One
Buckie Rovers 1 Lossiemouth United 0 (att 13)
Local press reports of the possible demise of Buckie Rovers at the end of this season meant a visit to Merson Park became a priority for me, and reason enough for a ridiculously long drive just a day after going to a game in Devon.
For the first 45 minutes of this local derby I wondered why I'd bothered. Almost nothing of note happened, and I got soaked by the rain at a very basic and exposed ground with only a tiny covered standing area for spectators.
The second half was a different matter, as both sides went in search of a winner and treated the disappointingly small "crowd" to end-to-end football where the entertainment made up for the lack of quality. Buckie, bottom of the league, showed a bit more urgency and desire, and just about deserved their dramatic winner which came in the 89th minute.
