Southern Combination League, Division Two Cup, First Round
Jarvis Brook 5 Brighton Electricity 1 (att 37)
Struggling Brighton Electricity were unable to create a shock as they were knocked out of the divisional cup by table-topping Jarvis Brook.
It was a routine win for the home side, whose progress to the next round was only briefly threatened when they conceded a well-taken equaliser, having earlier gone ahead.
The visitors had started well, but in attack they were mostly limited to shots from distance. Other than the one they scored from, the Jarvis Brook keeper wasn't troubled.
Brighton Electricity's goal sparked life into the sluggish home side. They stepped up a gear or two and scored twice to take a 3-1 lead into half time.
They came close to adding a fourth just after the break, but then game rather petered out. Jarvis Brook eventually managed to add a couple more goals, in what was a comfortable afternoon for them.
Jarvis Brook is a village close to Crowborough in East Sussex. The football club's main pitch is enclosed and railed off, with dugouts and some advertising boards. An adjacent building houses a bar/cafe as well as changing rooms.
