York League, Senior League Cup Semi Final
Easingwold Town 3 Dunnington 1 (att 45)
It was hard to believe it was May as I stood in the cold wind and rain at Easingwold and, although the players did well considering the weather, the conditions played a major part in the game.
Premier division Dunnington looked the better side in the first half, but that was deceptive as they benefited from having the wind at their backs. A well-taken goal put them ahead, but ultimately they paid for scoring just once with the conditions in their favour.
Easingwold, division one runners-up and promoted for next season, made better use of the wind when their turn came after the break. Three well taken goals sent them convincingly into next week's final, and once again the quality of York League football was excellent.
Easingwold Town's Bull Hill ground will be a good addition to the league's top division next season. The pitch is neatly railed off, there's a pair of dugouts on one side and opposite is a small stand, a useful and welcome feature on a wet evening.
