Orford v Halebank

6.30pm  3 September 2013

Warrington and District League, Premier Division
Orford 2 Halebank 2 (att 45)

At half time Halebank led by two goals, had been the sharper side, and looked on course for a comfortable win.

They still looked likely to win well into the second half, when Orford scored what appeared at the time to be a consolation. But the goal galvanised the home side, who before long scored again to level, and so dominated the closing stages that by the end Halebank were desperately hanging on for a point.

The top division of the Warrington League usually produces a good standard of football, and this was no exception as the players coped well with a hard and bumpy pitch.

Orford's home ground is a taped off pitch in Orford Park, but while in essence it's just a park pitch the adjacent buildings, the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, is an amazing facility.

As well as changing rooms for the football, the huge, modern and very busy complex also houses a swimming pool, squash courts, fitness suite, library, health centre, pharmacy, crĆØche, cafĆ© and even a police office.
