Kirkby Town Railway v Ford Motors

6.30pm  2 September 2013

West Cheshire League, Division Three
Kirkby Town Railway 1 Ford Motors 1 (att 30)

Not a bad game but somehow the 90 minutes failed to hold my attention as much as it might have done.

Perhaps it the was opportunity to chat with other hoppers amongst the crowd, more likely was the presence of a six lane running track between spectators and the pitch, not helped by substitutes, coaches and hangers on standing pitchside and obscuring the view.

Ford Motors went ahead in the first half, Kirkby Town Railway equalised late in the second. Both teams had chances to win the game, but a draw was a fair result.

Kirkby Town Railway play at Kirkby Sports College, a school that doubles as an impressive community sports facility. There are floodlights, primarily to illuminate the running track but they were used for the final 10 minutes as the light faded, and an low uncovered seated stand with about 250 seats.
